Congressman Kucinich took time from his presidential campaign to meet with local residents concerned about water issues. He was on a preliminary fact-finding session for the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives that he Chairs.

Water Quality Monitoring Provisions AXED from Site Plan Conditions

On May 22, 2006, Rockingham Superior Court Judge McHugh ruled that the Nottingham Planning Board and USA Springs, Inc. had to come to some agreement as to which, if any, conditions to the site plan accepted November 16, 2005, were pre-empted by the DES Large Groundwater Withdrawal permit. Attorney Teague, for the Planning Board, met with USA Springs attorneys and revised the conditions to exclude important provisions for monitoring water quality in neighborhood wells. The result of these changes is that the burden of proof is now shifted to the well owners if the operation mobilizes pollutants to their wells.
